Everything's Fine: Kentucky's Starting PG Isn't Playing Today vs Florida And Stepping Away For A 'Couple Days For Personal Reasons'

So this rumor has been around all morning on Kentucky twitter. Ashton Hagans didn't travel with the team to Florida and is now stepping away for a couple of days for personal reasons. Here's the real response as a Kentucky fan: as long as this is one game, who gives a shit? This game vs Florida means literally nothing. Kentucky already clinched the SEC outright. They basically locked into a top-4 seed in the NCAA Tournament. Get Hagans mind right and get him ready for March. If this ends up being a more than 1-game leave of absence then it's time to panic a bit as a Kentucky fan. Hagans hasn't been playing well recently and was really, really fucking bad in the loss vs Tennessee. He needs to be right for March.

Luckily for Kentucky they still have Tyrese Maxey and he gets a full game of being the man on this team. He's the top-10 freshman, who has been damn good lately and is a combo guard. Give him the ball for this game and let him get used to playing against a decent team. Just get Hagans right because UK only has 7 guys without him including 2 true guards in Maxey/Quickley. They have 1 true wing in Juzang without him. Hagans needs to be right, especially with his ability to create havoc on the ball defensively, for the NCAA Tournament.

If we hear next week that Hagans is still away from the team and not playing in the NCAA Tournament, I'll start to worry. But for one game that doesn't matter? Just get right.
